Welcome to my first ever beauty post (well, almost – the beauty reviews are coming soon!)! I must admit I am as obsessed with beauty products as I am clothing and have always enjoyed wearing makeup and perfume. I started wearing makeup when I was about 12 and am completely self-taught. I wear makeup for no one else but me – I love the way I look and feel in makeup and an outfit is not complete without a ‘done’ face. I must admit, I cannot even look back and cringe at some of my makeup exploits (the peacock blue Avon liquid eyeliner in my mid-teens, the far-too-dark berry Max Factor lipstick for my Year 11 formal, the blue and green body glitter in my clubbing days, the single-hued mauve eyeshadow in my early 20s) because I was having fun and I was adventurous and isn’t that what wearing makeup (and living through your teens) is all about? Even though with age I have downplayed some of the more ‘out-there’ looks, I still like to think I take risks and enjoy trends.
Whilst I don’t consider myself a beauty blogger by any stretch of the imagination, I enjoy writing about beauty (almost) as much as I do fashion. I believe I can bring a ‘real girls’, ‘everyday’ perspective to makeup and fragrance for my readers. Just like with my fashion, I enjoy a bargain, I enjoy experimenting and I love mixing high (such as Lancôme, Stila, By Terry, NARS, Dior, Estée Lauder) and low (such as Maybelline, Covergirl, Natio, Revlon). Like fashion, my makeup wardrobe evolves with age, with seasons, with my style. I hope that writing about my experiences will encourage you to experiment, to be confident, to play up your best assets, to be informed and to embrace your beauty.
I have three beauty posts lined up that I cannot wait to ‘unleash’ on you. As always, I welcome your feedback and recommendations. I hope you enjoy reading my beauty posts as much I enjoy writing about my beauty experiences.
