At the end of last year, I purchased what is proving to be my holy grail of jackets. Made from a textured, stretch cotton/polyester/elastane blend, the collarless Metalicus ‘Empress’ biker jacket in ecru features long sleeves, a slightly asymmetric zip and a peplum. The fit is amazing – as a curvy woman, it can be difficult to find a jacket that fits on the arms without being restrictive, that covers the chest without looking as if you’re Superman bursting out of his Clark Kent suit and which skims the body with the ability to be easily buttoned or zipped up. This Metalicus jacket ticks all the boxes, especially as it hits just at the top of my hips (the most flattering spot for a lady with short legs!). The ecru colour is the perfect neutral and I find works better in my closet than a cumbersome black. Best of all, I nabbed it on sale for $49, down from $189.95.
Here I am working it with a pair of stretch, skinny, Josh Goot pants I bought from a Bindaring sale several years ago ($40 instead of $300) and my classic Roberto Del Carlo black pumps. Even though the jacket is my current love, the star piece in this outfit is this gorgeous Jonathan Saunders printed viscose/elastane tee, purchased from eBay a few months new with its tags for US$32 (it retailed for US$185). The Italian-made tee is silky soft and drapes beautifully, but it’s really that amazing floral print with the little pops of red that elevates this tee to something quite special.

You can buy the same Jonathan Saunders tee, but in blues/greens, from yoox here. Whilst the ‘Empress’ jacket is no longer available, check out these alternatives from Metalicus (simply click to shop!).
