I am so sorry it has been so long since I have done an outfit post – August is just proving to be such a busy month. It was so cold in Perth today (I’m not complaining – I love winter!) and even though I’m in an office, when you’re not really moving much throughout the day, you get cold quick! As such, when I dressed today, I made sure to wear many wool layers!
My pants are a recent eBay purchase, a skinny cropped wool/elastane blend by J.Crew that have a fantastic zip detail across the hips. They would normally retail for about $170, but I bought them for US$29. I love that I haven’t even had to take them up (cropped = regular length on short people!). I paired them with these fabulous leather Diana Ferrari ankle boots I bought from David Jones at the beginning of the year reduced to only $29. To say they have been absolute staples this winter is an understatement!
The sweater is also by J.Crew – a burgundy merino wool with 3/4 sleeves in a style called “Tippi” (available to buy here in a fabulous array of colours and ON SALE!!). I have it in bubblegum pink (first seen here) and honestly, would love this jumper in every hue!
But what to top the outfit? I haven’t donned this gorgeous oriental fan-print bomber jacket by Tucker since our honeymoon in France almost 2 years ago (at the beginning of a European winter, where woolly layers were necessary!) but it could not have looked better with the outfit today. It is lined with felted wool and the silk outer features the most gorgeous, statement-making print. I bought it from eBay almost 3 years for about $60 – as you can see for example here, the jacket would have retailed for about $800. I love this print that much, I managed to source the dress on eBay also (which is the antithesis to this jacket as it is so summery and breezy). I felt incredibly warm, stylish and comfortable – all wins in my book!
FYI, Tucker by Gaby Basora is a label renowned for its printed silk pieces, namely exquisitely diaphanous blouses. The label is made in the USA and favours bright colours and beautiful prints. I can’t find much online, as it appears the label is either shuttered or is undergoing a revamp, but you can still nab pieces on Gilt and of course, eBay.
I’d love to know if you have heard of this label and your thoughts!! For now, keep warm and snuggly on the last of these blustery winter nights!
