I have long loved shoe designer Laurence Dacade. Trained at the AFPIC School of Shoe design and official footwear designer for Chanel, Dacade’s understanding of construction as well as her passion for feminine shoes, has enabled her to produce footwear that is both sexy and comfortable. She launched her label in 2003 and since then, has been producing shoes that are classic with a surprising rock’n’roll edge.
I have several pairs of shoes by Laurence Dacade, including a nude patent leather low-heeled pump (they go with everything) and a 1940s-inspired chocolate brown suede, square-toed pump with crocodile trim. Absent from my wardrobe are a pair of her boots (specifically in the Pete, Merli, Gaucha or Flynn styles), purported to be the coolest and most comfortable boots by stylish women like Gwyneth Paltrow and Garance Doré. Absent… until now.
An eBay seller I buy from A LOT (I mean, I should get freebies or commission from them by now, such is my patronage!!) recently listed a pair of Dacade’s Pete boots, with the low heel, black suede, studded, in size 37.5, in their box, for US$149 (these boots retail for between $1,100 and $1,300, depending on where you purchase them). And guess what? I was the only bidder. The auction finished this morning and I was victorious!!
Can’t you just see them working with everything? With boyfriend jeans (cuffed for a peek of those beauties), a linen tee and a cuddly wrap cardigan for day; with black jeans, a white camisole and leather jacket for night; with slim black pants, a cashmere knit and a structured blazer for work; with a dark floral print midi-dress and tights for brunch; or, for the very young and brave, with leather shorts and a vintage rock’n’roll tee for a concert.
I love the little studs (don’t they just instantly bring the glam??!) and the heel height (you can actually spend a day in these). Whilst you might not typically see a soap character in Dacade, this is exactly the type of boot Steffy Forrester would wear and I like to think that Krystle Carrington would be rocking them with gold lame. I am excited to have them arrive in time for the wintery weather that is (surely) around the corner.
Whilst the Pete studded boot is not on sale, click below for my edit of Laurence Dacade boots on sale now on the web! I promise a post as soon as I wear them 🙂
